10 years Viasuisse
In the middle of September, Viasuisse celebrated the first decade of the company with a small gathering in Biel and its surroundings.
10 years ago the traffic information centre Viasuisse was founded in Biel where it began its operational activities. 10 years of traffic information in three languages, presented appropriately for all broadcasting channels.
Construction site visit and time for conversations
When discussing traffic in Biel, the top theme is the completion of the A5. For the company jubilee the traffic editorial team, the management, advisory committee and board of directors were able to visit the building site in Büttenberg itself. The 1,5 km long Büttenberg tunnel belongs to the eastern limb of the A5, the long planned motorway bypass for Biel. Four years ago construction work began on this national road project. In 2016 the segment with the Büttenberg tunnel should become operational. From the building site to aperitifs on the lake and then to Twann for dinner. Of course a view to the future is also part of such an occasion.
Well positioned for the challenges to come
In his celebratory speech Bruno Ehrler, chairman of the Viasuisse board of directors, formulated plans for the continuing development of Viasuisse services: "We want to make the traffic information an event." The demand for traffic information today is already very high. Bruno Ehrler referred to the consistently growing need for information in the face of increasing mobility, and the more and more frequent bottle-necks to be expected within the traffic infrastructure. For the tasks in the future, preparations are well in hand according to Ehrler: "Viasuisse has know-how and experience. The business is small, agile and flexible and can count on the commitment of its influential investors. In short: Viasuisse is equipped for the challenges to come and can look forward to the next 10 years with pleasure."
