Viasuisse travel and traffic information on all channels

For the past 10 years Viasuisse has been generating travel and traffic reports for road and rail in Switzerland and passing these on to various media for dissemination to a wider audience. Information about the media through which the users ultimately receive their traffic reports is gathered in an annual sample survey. For this market research Viasuisse collaborates with a professional polling institute. The last survey was carried out in the summer of 2010.

Radio is the most frequently used source of travel and traffic information
With a share of 87%, radio remains the most heavily used medium for travel and traffic reports. This is the unambiguous result from the 2010 survey of user habits in obtaining travel and traffic information. However, the figures clearly illustrate the intensive parallel use of various different media.
The Internet has grown strongly as a source of information. As many as 51% of those questioned now go online to find out about the traffic situation. Mobile and permanently installed navigation equipment has also gained in importance, and according to the 2010 figures nearly 10% of respondents use mobile applications for mobile phones and smart phones, and especially i-apps for the iPhone.

Travel and traffic reports are heard by practically everyone Switzerland
Radio, being the most heavily used medium, brings the Viasuisse travel and traffic reports to virtually the whole population. The stations of Swiss National Radio broadcasting in German and French together inform 4,568,000 listeners about about the traffic and travel situation on road and rail (Source: Publicadata AG, Radiopanel Mediapulse, 2nd half of 2010). The net reach of the commercial stations, which broadcast Viasuisse travel and traffic reports, adds a further 1.5 million listeners. Thus, in total we have achieved a net reach of 6.068 million. Taking these figures as a basis, it is clear that practically every Swiss household can be provided with travel and traffic reports by radio.

* The net reach is the number of people who, on an average day, have listened to the programme for at least 3 minutes.
